IS YAH SPEAKING TO CHRIST OR THE HOLY SPIRIT WHEN HE SAYS LET US?

๐Ÿ“– Genesis 1:26 (KJV)

โ€œAnd God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likenessโ€ฆโ€

๐Ÿ” Literal Explanation: Who is โ€œUsโ€?

๐Ÿ”น 1. Scripture must interpret Scripture

The Bible never contradicts itself. So we must look at the next verse and other precepts to define โ€œus.โ€

๐Ÿ“– Genesis 1:27 (KJV)

โ€œSo God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he himโ€ฆโ€

  • There is no plural used in the action.
  • โ€œHeโ€ created โ€” not โ€œthey.โ€
  • This shows the โ€œusโ€ is not multiple gods or persons, because only one did the creating.

๐Ÿ”น 2. God Is One, Not Many

๐Ÿ“– Deuteronomy 6:4

โ€œHear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.โ€

๐Ÿ“– Isaiah 44:24

โ€œI am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.โ€

โžค God created by Himself โ€” there were no other persons assisting.

๐Ÿ”น 3. God Speaks to His Own Counsel (or Manifestations)

This is an example of God speaking within Himself โ€” similar to when He says:

๐Ÿ“– Isaiah 46:10

โ€œMy counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.โ€

โžค He refers to His own will, wisdom, Word, and Spirit โ€” not separate persons, but the facets of His own being.

๐Ÿ“– John 1:1

โ€œIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.โ€

๐Ÿ“– Ephesians 1:11

โ€œโ€ฆwho worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.โ€

๐Ÿ”น 4. โ€œUsโ€ Does Not Mean Trinity or Separate Persons

There is not a single verse in all of Scripture that says:

  • God is three persons
  • The Word or Spirit is a separate being
  • Anyone besides God alone created man

๐Ÿ“– Malachi 2:10

โ€œHave we not all one father? hath not one God created us?โ€

๐Ÿ“– 1 Timothy 3:16

โ€œGod was manifest in the fleshโ€ฆโ€ โ€” not โ€œone of the persons of Godโ€

๐Ÿ”น 5. Possible Scriptural Explanations for โ€œUsโ€

InterpretationBased On Scripture?Notes
God talking to angelsโŒ No verse says angels created man
God talking to other persons in a TrinityโŒ No verse says God is more than one person
God speaking to His own Word/Spiritโœ… John 1:1, Isa. 46:10
Plural of majesty (royal speech)โœ… Supported by Gen. 1:27, Deut. 6:4, Isa. 44:24

โœ… Literal Conclusion (According to the Template)

  • โ€œUsโ€ in Genesis 1:26 is God speaking to or within His own counsel โ€” not to other divine persons.
  • Only one God created man, and He did it alone (Isa. 44:24).
  • The verse affirms Godโ€™s complexity, not plurality of persons.
  • Genesis 1:27 clears up the confusion: the Creator is one being who made man in His image.

๐Ÿ“– Isaiah 45:5

โ€œI am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside meโ€ฆโ€
