Sermon: Elohim Of Truth

Sermon: Elohim’s Sovereignty, Laws, and Human Understanding

We Must Believe That Elohim Is and That He Is a Rewarder of Those Who Diligently Seek Him”

Key Scripture: Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to Elohim must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

 Introduction

Faith is the foundation of the Christian life. It is not only the key to pleasing Elohim but also the path to experiencing His rewards. In this sermon, we will unpack Hebrews 11:6, focusing on what it means to:

1. Believe that Elohim exists.

2. Trust that Elohim rewards those who diligently seek Him.

3. Live out this faith with intentional pursuit.

 1. Believing That Elohim Is

To come to Elohim, we must first believe in His existence. This belief is not just intellectual acknowledgment but involves recognizing Him as the one true and living Elohim.

– Genesis 1:1 (KJV):

“In the beginning Elohim created the heaven and the earth.”

   – The Bible begins with the truth that Elohim exists and is the Creator of everything.

– Romans 1:20 (KJV):

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Elohimhead; so that they are without excuse.”

   – Elohim’s existence is evident through creation. Those who reject it do so without excuse.

Believing that Elohim exists is the first step. But faith goes beyond acknowledgment—it requires trusting His character, goodness, and power.

 2. Trusting That Elohim Rewards Those Who Diligently Seek Him

Faith also involves believing that Elohim rewards those who actively pursue Him. Elohim is not indifferent; He honors and blesses those who seek Him in faith and obedience.

– Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV):

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

   – Elohim promises that those who persistently seek Him will be rewarded.

– Jeremiah 29:13 (KJV):

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

   – Elohim’s reward is Himself—His presence, peace, and provision.

When we diligently seek Elohim, we find joy in His presence and strength in His promises.

 3. Living Out Faith Through Diligence

“Diligence” implies intentional and consistent effort. Seeking Elohim is not a one-time event; it requires daily prayer, study of His Word, and obedience to His commands.

– James 4:8 (KJV):

“Draw nigh to Elohim, and he will draw nigh to you.”

   – When we make efforts to draw closer to Elohim, He responds by revealing more of Himself to us.

– Proverbs 8:17 (KJV):

“I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”

   – There is a blessing for those who seek Elohim with urgency and priority.

Living out faith means trusting Elohim’s Word and seeking Him even when circumstances are challenging. It requires holding on to His promises, believing that He is faithful to reward.

 Conclusion: Faith That Pleases Elohim

Faith is the key to pleasing Elohim and experiencing the fullness of His blessings. Believing that Elohim exists and trusting that He rewards diligent seekers transforms how we live. We can approach every day with confidence that Elohim is with us and will reward our efforts to pursue Him.

As believers, let us commit to seeking Elohim daily, trusting that His rewards are sure. Whether it is peace, provision, guidance, or eternal life, Elohim honors the faithful pursuit of His presence.

 Prayer

Father, we thank You that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. Help us to believe in Your Word, trust in Your promises, and pursue You with all our hearts. Strengthen our faith to walk in obedience, knowing that You are with us every step of the way. In Yahoshuah’ name, Amen.

Scripture References: Ezekiel 20:25-26, 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12, Proverbs 3:5-6

Introduction

This sermon will explore the complexity of Elohim’s relationship with His people. We will reflect on three themes:

1. Elohim giving laws that were “not good”.

2. Elohim causing people to believe lies when they reject truth.

3. Elohim’s instruction not to lean on human understanding.

These scriptures reveal challenging truths about Elohim’s sovereignty, the consequences of rejecting His ways, and the need to trust Him above our own logic.

 1. Elohim Giving Laws That Were Not Good

The idea that Elohim gave laws that were “not good” appears in Ezekiel 20:25-26:

Ezekiel 20:25-26 (KJV)

“Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am YAH.”

 Explanation

– This passage refers to a time when Elohim allowed Israel to be subject to their own sinful desires and the pagan laws of surrounding nations.

– Elohim’s decision to “give laws that were not good” was not an act of cruelty but a judgment for their rebellion. He allowed them to follow the corrupt practices they desired as a form of discipline (see Romans 1:24-32).

Ro 1:24 (KJV) Wherefore Elohim also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of Elohim into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause Elohim gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain Elohim in their knowledge, Elohim gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of Elohim, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of Elohim, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

These statutes led to destructive outcomes, such as child sacrifices, diseases, reprobate minds which Elohim abhorred.

Key Lesson: Elohim, in His sovereignty, sometimes allows and causes people to experience the consequences of their choices to lead them to repentance and realization of His lordship.

 2. Elohim Causing People to Believe a Lie

This principle is captured in 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12:

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 (KJV)

“And for this cause Elohim shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

 Explanation

– This passage refers to Elohim’s judgment on those who willfully reject His truth. When people choose to embrace sin and falsehood, Elohim gives them over to delusion (Romans 1:25).

Ro 1:25 Who changed the truth of Elohim into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

– The lie is not forced upon them; rather, it is the consequence of rejecting truth. Elohim allows them to become deeply convinced of falsehood, demonstrating that rejecting Elohim’s truth has real consequences.

Key Lesson: Elohim honors human choices, even when they involve rejecting Him. Those who prefer falsehood over truth ultimately receive the result of their decision: strong delusion.

 3. Do Not Lean on Your Own Understanding

This teaching is found in Proverbs 3:5-6:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

“Trust in YAH with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

 Explanation

– Humans are limited in knowledge and wisdom. Leaning on our own understanding often leads to error, because we cannot fully comprehend Elohim’s purposes.

– Instead, Elohim invites us to trust in Him completely. This involves submitting our desires, thoughts, and reasoning to Elohim’s greater plan. True wisdom comes from acknowledging Elohim’s sovereignty and following His guidance.

Key Lesson: Trusting in Elohim means surrendering our desire for control and relying on His Word and Spirit to guide us, even when His ways seem beyond our understanding (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Isa 55:8 (KJV) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith YAH.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

 Conclusion: Trusting Elohim’s Sovereignty

These themes demonstrate that Elohim is in control, even when He allows and causes difficult situations, falsehoods, or confusing laws to test His people. His actions are always just and serve a greater purpose.

1. Elohim gave laws that were “not good” to discipline Israel and expose the consequences of sin.

2. He allows people to believe lies as a judgment when they reject His truth.

3. He instructs us not to lean on our own understanding but to trust Him fully.

Application: In our daily lives, we are called to seek Elohim’s truth in His Word, trust in His wisdom, and submit to His will, even when it challenges our own understanding. Elohim’s plans are always good, even when we don’t immediately comprehend them (Romans 8:28).

Ro 8:28 (KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love Elohim, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

 7. Rejecting Elohim’s Truth Brings Judgment

Those who reject Elohim’s truth are given over to deception and ultimately face judgment.

   > “And for this cause Elohim shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

The Truth about showing  appreciation, encouragement, and gratitude

These scriptures highlight the importance of showing appreciation, giving thanks, and acknowledging the efforts of others in both relationships and service.

As believers, we are called to live truthfully, speak truthfully, and seek Elohim with sincere hearts. Truth is essential to freedom, worship, and spiritual growth, and it paves the way for us to experience Elohim’s blessings.
